The joy of renting a car...

Well not a normal post for thenewenglandcoast.com but a worthy short one. When I recently toured southern New England I rented a car from National Car Rental in Newark at Liberty. I ordered a package which included 1 tank of gas, insurance and eventually for another 120 bucks an upgrade to a slightly larger vehicle. All in all a 600 dollar for one week rental. While the people were friendly I attempted to use the rental for my Bonus Points at Continental Airlines that I needed to apply for through National Car Rental. This I did and received a note that since I ordered a special rate I could not get any points credited... HUH? 600 bucks for a week... that was a special deal. Then I received the following feedback to my question...of what?: "Those are the rules.." well if those are the rules I then will opt to rent from anyone else!

My tip... avoid National Rental Car if you want to register for travel rewards or bonus points!
