State of Connecticut Launches Foliage Web Site

www.ct.gov/dep/foliage  was recently launched to give daily reports of foliage conditions...in Connecticut. Peak season, the time when the greatest number of leaves are in their most brilliant color begins in the low mountains & hills of the Berkshires and Taconics in Northwestern Connecticut in late September and the Mantook Mountains and upper highlands of the Eastern Connecticut range stradling the Massachusetts border around the same time. The peak season can last about two weeks in each area however please mind weather conditions as rain and wind can quickly change the conditions.

As the peak season moves down the valleys toward the shoreline in mid to late October please take advantage of the side roads f.e. Route 1 from Guilford to Pawcatuck, Route 159, Route 2, 85 and 81 during this time.

Other popular sites are www.weather.com, www.leafpeepers.com and www.visitnewengland.com
